Boarding Terms & Conditions
- Please call us to discuss the following scenarios. These are our general recommendations:
- If you would like to board your under 6 month old puppy: We can meet the additional requirements for your puppy's nutritional and emotional needs
- If your pet has never boarded: Book in a previsit prior to their boarding stay. This is to ensure that they will not cause harm to themselves or staff in the new and unusual environment, that can be stressful for some animals.
- If your pet needs medication during their stay: We can administer any prescribed, supplied medication as directed
- If your pet needs additional veterinary attention during their stay: We can book in for a consult with a vet during their stay provided vaccinations, deworming and flea treatments are up to date prior to their arrival.
- If you want a small animal other than a dog or cat to board: We would love to help! Call us to see if we can meet your needs.
- If your dog/cat is not yet vaccinated: Contact us immediately to determine the timeline and vaccines required to get your pet covered against serious diseases. Then we can work out the soonest date your pet can stay at our boarding facility.
- All pets entering and exiting the Clinic must be on a lead or in a carrier for their own and other pets safety
- We are available 7 days a week, every day of the year for drop of and pick up, however if this service is required on a weekend or public holiday there is an additional fee.
- C5 Vaccination for dogs and F3 for cats must be up to date, to ensure the health of all pets under our care.
- If your pet’s vaccinations are not current they will not be able to board.
- You will be asked to supply the clinic with a vaccination certificate prior to confirmation of your boarding appointment.
- C5 Vaccination covers Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza & Bordetella
- F3 vaccination covers Feline Enteritis and Feline Respiratory Disease.
- Vaccination boosters must be given a minimum of 7 days prior to check-in. This is because in most animals, protection against disease does not occur until 7 days after vaccination.
- Kangaroo Island Vet does not accept any responsibility of your animal/s falling ill
- All pets must also be up to date with their worming and flea treatment for their own comfort and for the protection of other boarders. If we find your pet has fleas or worms during their stay they will receive immediate treatment at the cost of the owner
- For species other than dogs and cats, vaccine, worming and feed requirements will be determined on a case-by-case basis to ensure the safety of your pet and others in the facility.
- Please limit items to one clean bed and toy per pet. Any damage caused by pets or cleaning if items are soiled is not the responsibility of the Clinic
- All clients will be required to sign our consent form and answer a few basic questions that help us understand your pet’s needs so that we can make their stay as comfortable as possible. This process can take up to 15-20 minutes, please factor this in when making plans regarding travel and catching the ferry
- Any pet requiring veterinary examination or treatment will be seen by one of the Clinic's registered veterinarians.
- Such examination or treatment may be at the request of the owner, or upon notification from Clinic staff of ill health or abnormal behaviour of your pet.
- We will contact you if veterinary services are required prior to commencement. However, if we are unable to contact you, then we will proceed with a standard consult followed by further investigation and treatment as deemed necessary for the health and safety of your pet by the attending veterinarian
- All veterinary expenses are to be paid by the owner
- The Clinic can not be held responsible for any injury, illness, death, loss or damage of any kind whatsoever, including any unforeseen behavioural issue.
- If the pet in our educated opinion demonstrates aggressive behaviour or severe anxiety during boarding, we reserve the right to:
- Request that the pet be collected within 24hrs of owner notification
- Change the environment
- Administer behaviour medication
- Isolate the pet
- Kangaroo Island Veterinary Clinic reserves the right to refuse admittance to any pet for any reason, at any time, who lacks proof of vaccinations, displays signs of untreated or potentially contagious conditions or demonstrates aggressive behaviour.
- If the pet is being dropped off or picked up by someone that is not the owner this persons details must be provided to Kangaroo Island Vet in advance and these details will be added to the clients file
- All charges are to be paid in full at the Clinic at time of check out.
